The move of Jahvid Best to injured reserve was made official today, as the Lions brought back a running back blast from the past.

Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com:

The Lions have officially placed running back Jahvid Best on Reserve/Injured and have re-signed RB Aaron Brown back to the roster.

Brown spent his first two seasons with the Lions after being drafted by the team in the sixth-round of the 2009 draft. He was part of the team’s final cuts before the regular season this year.

Aaron Brown, exhibition season wunderkind!

The Lions are desperate for healthy running backs. Best is done for the season, while another blast from the past, Kevin Smith, has the most infamous of sprains, the high ankle. He is unlikely to play against the Saints.

The Lions needed RB insurance, a 3rd stringer to play behind Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams. Brown knows the offense, has some speed and most importantly...no one else wanted him, so he was available.

Remember when the Lions' 2011 season seemed for promising? Now I'm writing about a journeyman who wasn't good enough to make the team out of training camp coming back to rescue the Lions' running game.

What the Hell happened?
